About the vacancy

COOMBES is seeking an experienced SSOW & Possessions Planner to join our Rail team, on a full-time permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a Planner experienced in line possessions, to take ownership of planning and have an impact through developing processes and structure.

Your responsibilities will include coordinating and managing line blocks/possessions, principally within NR’s Southern Region, and the planning and creation of Safe System of Work plans, in line with internal and external standards.  In doing so, you will utilise your strong interpersonal and communication skills to work closely with our Project Managers and the external client to deliver a highly organised and exceptional service. You will be confident to challenge issues and take a ‘one-team’ attitude in their resolution.

You will attend and represent COOMBES at possession management meetings - as well as internal planning meetings - to coordinate, identify and ensure that all requirements have been identified and integrated. It will also be necessary to work flexibly in response to changing requirements and to be successful in delivery.

Identifying opportunities to streamline and make efficiencies in planning multiple worksites, whilst ensuring compliance with NR’s 019 standard, will support your success in this role.

As well as holding a PTS and SSOWP competencies and a firm understanding of Network Rail’s (NR) standards, the ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience of planning in NR’s Southern Region.  You will also be supporting planning on the other regions/routes where we hold frameworks. Any cross- region/ route knowledge would be advantageous, but not essential.  You will also be adept in NR’s Possession Planning System (PPS) with strong experience of MS Excel and Railhub.
