About the vacancy

Works Supervisor

Field based (operating form Petersfield or Bedgebury, Kent yard)

£130 - £140 PD

Reporting to: Project Manager

We are on the search for a Works Supervisor to join our committed and dedicated team across the South Regions and London area (50Miles radius of Dartford).

This position is needed to help supervise our railway ‘on/off track’ ground teams, minor civils team and groundworkers in a verity of projects.

The ideal candidate will have experience working within the rail and construction industry. Providing safe and strategic ways of working along with empowering the workforce to deliver fantastic results. Communication skills, industry knowledge and a calm pragmatic approach is vital to us.

Experience working with railway arches, structures and communicating with landowners, tenants and stakeholders is also beneficial to this role.

This opportunity would suit ‘site supervisors’ with over 3 years’ experience in a similar position and industry.

We are continually increasing our ground teams and management team whilst acquiring huge national projects, this opportunity could be the next step for anyone wanting to climb the ranks.

  • Main point of contact on delivery sites. Supervise, direct and motivate labour, providing clarity on tasks/work.
  • Communicate staffing roster for work, week-by-week basis. Promptly identify and escalate any possible labour shortages or issues to the Project Manager.
  • Vehicle checks
  • To ensure that equipment are only used for their intended job and purpose
  • To complete jobs to a standard set out by job specifications, industry standards and company policies
  • To give task briefings and safe system of work briefings
  • Suggest ways of eliminating hazards
  • Suggest ways of improving work methods
  • To authorise limited purchases requested by operatives

Essential:

  • Driving Licence
  • PTS & COSS
  • A good understanding of, and application of health, safety & environment practices.
  • Ability to plan logistics within set timescales
  • Ability to read and interpret maps, including GPS/GIS
  • Flexibility in your approach to work and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Self-motivated and a team player

Desirable:

  • NPTC chainsaw
  • Mechanical skills (general repairs, fitting parts on machinery, etc.)
  • Driving licence category B+E (trailer towing)
  • Experience in the forestry industry, Rail and Construction

Salary: £130 - £140 PD

Working Hours: Full Time, Permanent
